Commodore's Cup
In pleasant contrast to the unsettled weather of the last few weeks, Sunday 29th Oct was a glorious sailing day. Unseasonably warm temperatures, sunshine and light NNE winds saw a few people trying out new skills on the water. Sunday's two races brought the Commodore's Cup to a close.
Series results
Despite half of the races being cancelled, the Commodore's Cup has winners! In the fast fleet, Mike and Di Croker's Laser>> got the better of Dave Carter and Stu Hart, in the Laser4000. There's still the November series, guys.
Paul Fewster dominated the Laser fleet in style, since he'd won the series on the 15th Oct (hindsight is a wonderful thing). Steve Lynch had a great time trying to get that trophy off him, but it was like banging his head against a brick wall...
Nick showed the Topper fleet how it's done, but Brad is getting dangerously close at times. Who knows what Brad is going to achieve in the November series this year?
You can read the complete results in the Results page on this website.
More sailing news
From this year, the November series follows a new format: each week, there are 2 back-to-back races of approximately 40 minutes. First start is at 11am, as usual, and the sailors race a trapezoid course, using an average lap system similar to the Wednesday evenings series. The guide to November series is now available in the handbook.

Dinner and Dance
Coming soon is the annual Dinner and Dance with prizegiving. This will take place on the 18th November 2006. For all details, see poster. You can USE THIS FORM to book a meal for you and friends.
Coming dates
Even though the boats will be tucked in for the winter after the 26th November, the social life continues!
We have a few more dates to write in the calendar: first of all, the 3rd December is the first Sunday Lunch, prepared as usual by Mark and Isabelle. Book a place when you see them!
A work party is scheduled on the 10th December and our bosun is dead keen on getting the club tidied up before the winter. Precise time for that morning and tasks allocation will be posted at a later date.
What is certain though, is that on the 10th December from 2pm to 4pm, we'll have the Christmas Party for the little - and not so little - ones. Everyone's welcome, with one condition: you must believe in Santa.
