Youth sailing

The encouragement of youth sailing has always been a priority at Lancing SC and this is reflected in our ‘Volvo/RYA Champion Club’ status. We have a very enthusiastic Topper fleet which has achieved considerable success over the years, with helms competing at World and National Championship level. Beginners are always welcome at Lancing SC, as are their families.

Since 2007, the Archie Summers Youth Award encourage improvers to take part in racing, both at club levels and in open meetings. The sailing committee takes into account all aspects of sailing throughout the season and awards a number of points which add up to determine the winner of the Archie Summers Award. The Archie Summers Youth award page will help you to find more about this scheme.

We run several youth training days each season and hold a Youth Regatta every year. Lancing Sailing Club also runs a unique, whole season, Topper League as well as a Summer-long Topper Class Series. There are plenty of opportunities for consistent sailors as well as race winners to win the prizes, including one for the most improved novice helm. The beach, the sea and the club are just a great place for young sailors. Come along and see!
